Lifelines and Lanyards
Safety Lanyards
Safety lanyards are an essential link to the fall protection anchor point for workers. These short sections of webbing or cable are usually attached to the D-ring of the worker's safety harness. Both rigid lifelines and shock absorbing lifelines are available for connecting to the fall protection anchor point. Y-Lanyards, also known as two legged lanyards, allow workers to maintain a secure anchor point while moving around an obstacle or from one area to another while tied-off 100% of the time.
Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRL)
Self-Retracting Lifelines are designed to immediately stop the fall of a worker. Self-Retracting Lifelines are designed to be secured to an anchor point or fall protection system above the worker's head. If a work were to fall, an inertial breaking mechanism locks into place and prevents any further falling for the worker beyond a few inches. The cable or webbing used in an SRL retracts back into the housing of the unit to eliminate the hazard of tripping over the cable or of having excess slack that could lead to further injury in the event of a fall.
