OVERHEAD BRIDGE CRANES

Overhead cranes are often called bridge cranes or overhead bridge cranes. They are also referred to by the abbreviation EOT, which is short for Electric Overhead Traveling Crane.
Types of Overhead Bridge Cranes
Overhead cranes are primarily divided into two groups based upon the design of the bridge with the overhead crane. This refers to the design of the bridge and not the position of the hoist.
Top Running Overhead Bridge Cranes
Top running overhead bridge cranes are made up of two parallel runways and have a traveling bridge spanning the area between them. A hoist then travels along the bridge beam to lift any required materials.
Under Running Overhead Bridge Cranes
Under running overhead bridge cranes have two parallel runways supported by an overhead structure where the bridge crane itself travels on the bottom flange of the runway.
