We wanted to share a quick ProTip today that may be helpful when you're in the field and don't have access to directly measure the wall thickness of a square or rectangular tube.

In general, when you don't have access to directly measure the wall thickness, you can use the corner radius to help determine wall thickness of a square or rectangular tube.  As a general rule of thumb, the corner radius of a structural tube is approximately two times the wall thickness.  We've included a diagram for clarification.

Note: This general rule of thumb cannot be used to determine wall thickness on round pipe. Â
