Gorbel Freestanding Type Jib Crane

Freestanding Type Jib Cranes

Gorbel Free Standing Jib Cranes are Hoosier Crane's most usable cranes. They are perfect under large overhead bridge cranes. Great in open areas where they can serve several work stations. Work well in outdoor use such as loading docks. And they can be used in machining and assembly operations. They can be used together with other jib cranes to provide staged coverage.

  • Capacities from 500 to 10,000 lbs. Spans to 20 ft. This is a totally freestanding crane.
  • You can use manual chain hoists, electric chain hoists or wire rope hoists on these jib cranes. CM, RM, Shawbox, Harrington, Budgit, Coffing and Yale Hoist are just a few of the hoists that will work.
  • Use I beam boom assemblies for heavier capacities and longer spans.
  • Works great under overhead cranes.

Freestanding Gorbel Jib Cranes

Features:

  • The option to have a sleeve installed in the foundation for easy jib removal
  • Precision tapered roller bearings in top pivot and trunnion assemblies provide smooth operation and long life
  • In-head totally enclosed, bottom entry collector assembly allows the option of easily adding power to the hoist for 360 degree rotation at the time of or after purchase
  • Independent head assembly, installed separately from the boom for easier installation
  • Full supporting triangular base plate gussets are used (in lieu of struts) to minimize crane deflection, thus making it easier to accurately position loads
  • Bolted head/boom connection which permits separate installation and provides maximum lift for the hoist, since it can be installed very close to the underside of the lower ceiling obstruction for greater headroom
  • Recessed bearing assembly allows greatly reduced clearances needed for installation
  • Optional power rotation

Applications:

  • Applications underneath large bridge cranes
  • Outdoor applications such as loading docks
  • Machining or assembly applications where it can be overlapped with other jibs to provide staged coverage

What are the benefits of Gorbel Foundationless Jib Cranes?

You save money!
A poured foundation can cost as much or more than the jib crane itself.

Flexible for easy relocation
It’s easy to relocate freestanding jib cranes where there’s no poured foundation. That means more flexibility in choosing initial location. You can place it closer to machines or other obstructions, because there is no need for a large square foot area for a concrete pour.

Quick and easy installation
Poured foundations can take up to a week to cure before you can install the crane.
Now there’s no waiting.

Ease of operation
Precision tapered roller bearings in top pivot and trunnion assemblies provide smooth
operation and long life.

Safety
Head retaining pin provides the resistance to accidental upward dislodgement of the head.

Additional Notes:

  • Standard Gorbel jibs will have a 5-10 day lead time.

Wall Bracket Jib Cranes

Gorbel Wall Bracket Jib Cranes are Hoosier Crane's most cost effective means of providing hoist coverage for individual use in bays. They can be used along walls or columns of plants. They can also be used as a supplement to an overhead crane or monorail system. This Gorbel jib crane has 2 brackets that mount to a wall or building beam. The bottom bracket has a boom that is straight out from the wall with a bracket toward the end that a tie rod is attached to. This is the least expensive type of Gorbel jib. It does take up the most head room and it exerts the most force on whatever it's mounted to. So make sure to take a look at this when choosing this model.

  • Capacities from 1/2 ton to 5 ton.
  • 200° rotation on primary jib boom.
  • Spans to 30 ft.
  • Good for use where moving around obstacles or swinging under obstructions is necessary.

Features:

  • Formed bracket fittings provide for greater reliability. No welds in tension, all bolts are in double shear.
  • Pre-engineered for use with powered hoists.
  • Low dead weight of the boom combined with bronze bushings and oil-impregnated bronze thrust washers provide for easy rotation and superior load positioning.
  • Grease fittings are provided for easy field lubrication
  • Single tie rod, right hand threaded, at both ends for easy boom adjustment and installation
